06/01/2023 Magstrength (CC) 2-1
Firday armoury, this time round i took it back to where my Flesh and Blood journey started, Magstrength, my favourite local game store. The play area is very limited but the vibe is the best i've experienced, the group of players there are all very close gaming friends. Simply put, it feels at home when playing at Magstrength~~
The meta was rather bizzare, 6 players, 3 Dorinthea and I faced the other two Dorinthea, lol.
Decklist remained the same as the last one, still feels good about it so no changes were made.

Round 1 Iyslander Stormbind
Equipment used: <Nullrun Hood>, <Fyendal's Spring Tunic>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
Opponent is probably one of the most recognised player in Singapore, he's the first in Singapore to hit 100 lifetime exp and got his gold CF, i remember it was a Carrion Husk. Games against him has always been challenging and enlightening. It's indeed unlucky to get paired against him in round 1 but it's a very rewarding learning experience every single time
The exact process of the game doesn't really matter that much as it was determined by the number of <Aether Iceveins> my opponent plays, which drew almost every turn along with the <Amulet of Ice> and <Incidicious Chill>.
Though the games was particularly interesting, i punted super hard during a potential counter grwoing turn. i had 3 blue and a <Ironsong Pride> in hand and a <warrior's Valor> in arsenal. The pitch should have been any one of the blue except the <Overpower>, but i pitched the <Overpower>, opponent had 2 <Sink Below> and denied the 2 potential counters on my <Dawnblade>.
And unsurpsisingly the game just spiralled out of my control with all the taxing and disruption opponent played.
CF is out of reach but gaining experience and enjoying the game follows~

Round 2 Dorinthea Ironsong
Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
Long time FaB player and we've know each other since the game got into Singapore. Mirror match in Dorinthea is always interesting due to the sheer numbers of decision points in the game. We all are aware of the importance of getting a counter on the <Dawnblade> and how much more difficult does it make the blocking to be.
There were no key turns in the entire game, but the blocking makes the decision on who will be ahead by the end game. Opponent was kind of unlucky in not drawing his "Go Again" source therefore couldn't threaten significantly powerful turns while my <Steelblade Shunt> was putting in a lot of work. Neither of us had very powerful turns, but i was able to get a counter on my <Dawnblade> with <Ironsong Pride>.
Both of us were blocking efficiently the entire game, exemplified by me playing 2 of my <Glint the Quicksilver> and opponent playing all 3 of his without the "Reprise" trigger. However, i had 8 <Steelblade Shunt> in the deck which were really puling heavy duty in the mirror match-up, no only do they do damage, they deny the "Reprise" trigger really nicely when played from the graveyard.
I got the tempo lead from efficient block and the <Steelbalde Shunt> and a second cycle <Ironsong Determination> which i pitched early game in planning for the end game combined with <Steelblade Supremacy> to push through damage and drawing a red <Steelblade Shunt> that i could arsenal.
Game ended with me on 21 life.
Take away:
1) <Steelblade Shunt> is really good not only against "Oldhim, Grandfather of Eternity" and "Bravo, Showstopper" but especially good in the mirror.
2) Plan the end game very early, maybe in the first couple of turn cycles, depending on how the opponent is playing. If they are blocking a lot, I should take a couple of hits here and there and play the fatique game by pitching reds and go for <Command and Conquer>, <Pummel> surprise play.
3) Even though wiht the printing of <Run Through>, a naked <Dawnblade> swing is still an open invite for "Reprise" trap, so when possible don't block it.

Round 3 Dorinthea Ironsong
Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
Third round, another mirror, this time round against possibly the earliest Flesh and Blood player in Singapore and definitely the very first TO in Singapore, whom i bought my very first box of Flesh and Blood, inside which i oponed a <Fyendal's Spring Tunic>. He's always been playing Dorinthea so a very experienced player and it was a great game.
The blocking in this game was even more vigorous than the last, opponent is not as aggressive so he was picking his spot to deal damage and blocking very efficiently. Also, he plays 3 of each of <Sink Below>, <Fate Foreseen> and red <Unmovable> so his blocking was more efficient than mine. On my side, my <Steelblade Shunt> were pulling their duty and letting me not fall behind.
The game started to tilt in my favour when my oponent played his <Glistening Steelblade> into a <Dawnblade> swing which i blocked with a card, he follows it up with a <Command and Conquer> which i blocke with my <Braceforege Bracers> and took four. I had <Steelblade Supremacy>, <Glint the Quicksilver> and another blue while my arsenal was <Puncture>, i went off the turn and went over the <Sink Below> opponent had and securing a counter on my <Dawnblade>, the draw from my <Steelblade Supremacy> was an <Ironsong Pride> and the draw from my <Glint the Quicksilver> was another blue whic gave me enough resource to play out all my attack reaction and swinging twice with my <Dawnblade>.
Game ended with me presenting a one counter <Dawnblade> swing while holding 2 attack reactions in hand, opponent chose to block for 6 and he was at 4 life.

Losing to the Iyslander player was not surprising and gets me a deeper understanding of the game and how each card matters a lot. Keep learing, keep improving.
