10/01/2023 Tanoshimou (CC) 2-1
Armoury with Dorinthea continues, another go at Tanoshimou, again with 4 players, so a round robin among the 4 of us. The player to get 2 wins in the first two rounds will be the top seat, so a lot depend on the pairing and I lost my CF Arakni to the pairing :(
Decklist remained the same as the last one, still feels good about it so no changes were made.

Round 1 Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire
Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
The four heroes present were Dorinthea (me), Dash, Rhinar and Fai. Match ups against Fai and Rhinar were rather even and indeed I won both of those games but against Dash, Dorinthea is unfavored especially when then go on the pistol plan.
Opponent started with <Induction Chamber> in arena, on turn 0 he played a <Plasma Purifier> and on turn two, he <Spark of Genius> into a second <Induction Chamber>. My draws for these couple of turns were mediocre and didn’t manage to land counters on my <Dawnblade>, be around turn 7 or 8, he played his second <Plasma Purifier> and the game was basically out of my hand then.
One key turn I sort of punted was not blocking my opponent’s pistol attack with my <Courage of Bladehold> on the previous turn and wasn’t willing to crack it for a big crack back turn. Opponent efficiently block my second dawnblade swing and didn’t get me a <Dawnblade> counter.
I was a little tilted by the end of this game due to the poor decision making on the <Courage of Bladehold> turn but when Dash was able to put out 3 items by turn 8, it was already an uphill battle for me.
Need to gitgud~~

Round 2 Rhinar, Reckless Rampage
Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
Same Rhinar player as last week at Tanoshimou, but with a tweak to his deck. He’s playing a lot more aggressive this time round with a lot more yellows and he’s playing <Berserk>.
Opponent did get a life lead with his <Bloodrush Bellow> but soon after I cracked back with a couple of big <Dawnblade> swings and getting up to 2 counters. Soon after opponent bricked on one of his turns where I could get by with 1 card block and staying at 3 life to hedge against <Reckless Swing>, he has to block with all cards against my <Dawnblade> swing and the game basically ended there.

Round 3 Fai, Rising Rebellion
Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>
I lost the die roll and opponent chose to let me go first which was theoretically correct, but my starting hand was <Ironsong Response>, <Singing Steelblade>, <Steelblade Supremacy> and a blue. On first swing, opponent blocked for 8 against my 5, so I <Singing Steelblade> into a <Glint the Quicksilver> drawing a blue and played <Ironsong Response> to go over by 1. For the second swing, I activated my <Braveforge Bracers> and swung for 6, opponent decided not to block with equipment and used his remaining card to block for 3. So by end of turn 0, I dealt 4 damages and scored a counter on my <Dawnblade> and was able to arsenal an <Out for Blood> off of the <Steelblade Supremacy> card draw.
Opponent’s attacks on turn 1 was not threatening enough for me to block with cards from hand, so I just blocked with my <Refraction Bolters> and my crack back again landed a counter on my <Dawnblade> with cracking of my <Refraction Bolters>, from there the life and tempo lead was too much for my opponent to come back, compounded by the fact he didn’t draw his <Art of War> early enough to matter, the game ended with a triple hit turn with <Glistening Steelblade> and <Twinning Blade> mini combo.
We played another game after our actual game and once again opponent let me go first. This time round, his draws were better, he was able to threaten much more damaging turns with his <Art of War> and <Spreading Flame>, but once I land a single <Dawnblade> counter, I started drawing <Spoils of War> of <Glistening Steelblade> and <Singing Steelblade> together, so he had a very tough time blocking my swings.
I took the second game too.

It of course doesn’t feel good to lose the CF due to pairing, but can’t complain much because nobody can play around pairing by the system anyway, as least there’s a learning point in the Dash match up, which is expend the armour blocks early because they rarely play any on-hit, so getting early tempo lead in the form of <Dawnblade> counters is especially important. Once they can establish a couple of <Induction Chamber> and a single <Plasma Purifier>, the game will be almost un-winnable.

This is a rather brief report as the event took place 2 days ago and honestly speaking, I don’t remember too much more details to the games. This should serve as a reminder to myself to write the report asap.
Onwards, Dorinthea!!!
