Second armoury in the week, I’m taking my Dorinthea for a spin at JGH, A.K.A. Fai’s hideout :P

________________________________________________________________

18 players turned up, 5 were on <Fai, Rising Rebellion> and I faced 2 of them. Game plan against <Fai, Rising Rebellion> is becoming clearer as the games pile up, but still it’s always a race Vs calculated aggression debate.

Decklist remained the same as the last one, still feels good about it so no changes were made.

Round 1 Arakni, Huntsman

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Fyendal’s Spring Tunic>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Opponent is a local content creator who is quite dedicated to beating people up with off-meta decks. He has a YouTube channel that features his games on <Ser Boltyn, Breaker of Dawn> and I’ve learnt quite a bit from watching his game play videos.

Here’s a link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@BeefTheNoob/videos

Our game started with me trying to put up pressure and he blocking efficiently because all of his cards block for 3 and he plays, what felt to me like, 3 <Sink Below>, 3 <Fate Foreseen> and 3 <Oasis Respite>. I had a hard time trying to land counter on my <Dawnblade>.

While I was trying to put up pressure, he was chipping away at my health with his <Spider’s Bite> which I had no reason to block. The game continued like this for the next 4 to 5 turns and I didn’t give him any <Silver> token. The only attacks I allowed through was those that targeted “Attack Actions” and “Block value less than 2”. Then came one of my biggest turn.

It was a <Glistening Steelblade> with <Ironsong Determination> and I landed 2 hits for 3 counters. On the swing back, opponent was able to get his first <Silver> of the game because I was conserving my card in order to maintain my <Dawnblade> counters. But my hand was not ideal to maintaining counters , it was double blue and <Singing Steelblade>. i swung for 6, opponent blocked for 9, I played <Singing Steelblade> into red <Overpower> for 13, but he had his final D-react to drop my <Dawnblade> counters.

From here on, the game became a blocking fiesta. And it was here I started looking through my discard pile and realised I played 6 of my 8 <Steelblade Shunt> and opponent was at 2. So at that point, my game plan shifted to staying at or below my opponent’s life because he also plays <Heart of Fyendal> and blocking out until I draw both of my <Steelblade Shunt>.

I didn’t need to wait for too long before I drew double <Steelblade Shunt>. Opponent activated his <Spider’s Bite> for 1 damage, I said no blocks when I was at 4, opponent played his <Razor Reflex> for the win and I played out double <Steelblade Shunt> seeing he didn’t pitch his <Heart of Fyendal>, for the win.

Shunting for the win always feel very cheeky, but rewarding at the same time because I was playing toward that out.

What I could have done also, is to block out all of his attacks for a fatigue plan which would have also worked because I noticed his deck was down to 5 or 6 cards while I still had more than 10.

Round 2 Fai, Rising Rebellion

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

One of the 5 <Fai, Rising Rebellion> present and first of the two I had to play against.

The game didn’t really have too many decision points or even critical game play highlights. Opponent’s 4 blocks from armour and his play set of <Sink Below> really made me work hard for the first counter on my <Dawnblade>, but I was able to draw all 3 of my red <Warrior’s Valor> and a couple of “Majestic” to keep the tempo and life lead on my side.

I was eventually able to rack up 3 counters on my <Dawnblade> and drew a hand of <Ironsong Determination>, <Twinning Blade> and 2 blues and I had a <Puncture> in the arsenal.

Opponent presented exact lethal with his <Mask of the Pouncing Lynx> and <Snapdragon Scalers> despite me blocking with 1 card and <Braceforge Bracers>, so I had to block with my <Twinning Blade> and <Courage of Bladehold>.

But still having a blue in hand to pitch and <Ironsong Determination> I swung for “Dominate” 7, <Puncture> brought it up to 11, then second swing for another “Dominate” 7 for the W.

Round 3 Fai, Rising Rebellion

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Got a praise once again for my play mat by opponent~ cheers, Nick~

Another <Fai, Rising Rebellion>, another very dedicated player. This game is even more straightforward than the last, it’s a pure race to the finish line.

I won the die roll an chose to go second and didn’t get punished by another double <Energy Potion> hand, lucky me…

The game basically went by with me pressuring <Dawnblade> counters every single turn and opponent blocking minimally to present as much damage as he could on the swing back. Eventually I was able to get like 4 or 5 counters and the game basically ended there with no good blocks for my opponent.

It was a super close game, but with no surprise play from either side of the table. A good game anyway~~

As there are 18 players, CF <Arakni, Huntsman> will only be given out to the top standing player and yours truly ended up in the second place, :(

Not getting CF when you get a 3-0 stings, but I’ve won the CF when another player had 3-0 too, so life is fair~~

Btw, my new deck is almost complete, so in future armoury reports, we might see a different hero, a very different hero indeed~~

Onwards, Dorinthea!!!
