09/02/2023 Daimonji (CC) 4-0

For the past two weeks, I’ve been serving the nation so there’s been a long break since my last blog post.

Wife and kid came back to Singapore so that means playing time reduces to once a week, so armoury reports will be on a lower frequency, most probably once a week.

Once again Thursday, so once again Daimonji~~

Round 1 Dash, Inventor Extraordinaire

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Opponent once again shows me a different deck since he started playing and later during a chat between the rounds, I learnt that he built 4 decks since he started playing Flesh and Blood. :O

Opponent started with <Teklo Pounder> in play which was a little surprising given that his weapon was <Teklo Plasma Pistol>. In my opinion, <Induction Chamber> is still the better plan against <Dorinthea Ironsong> due to the inevitability.

Opponent was rather fast in assembling his items as he was able to draw 3 items and 2 copies of <Spark of Genius>. My threatening swing were mostly blocked efficiently by opponent’s D-react and equipment, so i wasn’t able to get any counters on my <Dawnblade>. Good thing is opponent wasn’t putting too much damage to me as well, so I had time to set up a <Steelblade Supremacy> in the arsenal and set up my <Energy Potion>.

Through a couple big turns with <Steelblade Supremacy>, I was able to draw out opponent’s D-reacts and critical turn came when I drew <Glistening Steelblade> and <Ironsong Determination> while I already had a counter on my <Dawnblade> and opponent didn’t have a card in his arsenal due to the pressure I put up previously. So I got 3 additional counters on this turn alone and the game quickly ended because from this moment onwards, there was just no good block for my opponent.

Round 2 Dorinthea Ironsong

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Fyendal’s Spring Tunic>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Familiar face, but this is actually the first time we played against each other and it had to be a <Dorinthea Ironsong> mirror, lol

Opponent commented about the number of <Steelblade Shunt> I have in the deck and I was already planning for D-react like <Sink Below> and <Fate Foreseen> from opponent. Game started with back and forth trade of swings and I was able to chip in a lot more damage by presenting naked <Dawnblade> swing which opponent was very reluctant to block. There was an instance in the game when I still had 40 life and opponent was somewhere near 25.

Then I started taking damage to gain a dominating position. Opponent used up his powerful majestic rather early and I still had quite a number of good red cards in my deck so game transformed into I blocking with 2 cards and equipment to deny his counter and he taking a couple points of damage each turn and to maintain cards in his hand.

Game ended when opponent drew a hand that could kill me while I was still on 14 life and he decided to take the chance and just take both my <Dawnblade> swings, but I had an <Out for Blood> to finish him off given he didn’t block.

<Dorinthea Ironsong> mirrors are always nerve-wrecking because any mis-block could cause the game and it’s really hard to get tempo back once any side started getting counters on their <Dawnblade>

Round 3 Rhinar, Reckless Rampage

Equipment used: <Crown of Providence>, <Courage of Bladehold>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Opponent was the one giving me nightmares by playing life-gain-fatigue-Oldhim during ProQuest. But luckily today he’s on <Rhinar, Reckless Rampage>.

Game started with opponent taking first swing damage and blocking out my second swing to deny counters and swinging back with big hits to chip in damage.

He had his first <Bloodrush Bellow> rather early and presented a 18 damage turn in which I took 15 damage and on the swing back, I was able to strip 2 cards from his hand and a D-react from his arsenal. But on his turn, he rolled for <Scabskin Leathers>, he got a 6 and played out 2 <Energy Potion>, fml…..

Throughout the game I had 3 turns where I gave my <Dawnblade> unconditional “Go Again”, seeing opponent was blocking exact amount I did not pump it for a second swing, but instead I went for a follow up <Command and Conquer> which took a big toll on opponent’s tempo. On the last iteration of this play, I was able to get him when he had double D-react in hadn’t and destroyed his arsenal while delivering 6 damages.

The deciding turn came when I drew the following hand: <Steelblade Supremacy>, <Hit and Run>, <Twinning Blade> and a blue while I had a pump in arsenal. With unconditional “Go Again” and the threat of <Steelblade Supremacy>, opponent decided to block with 3 cards for 9 but got caught off by my <Twinning Blade> and I could swing for a third time with activating <Refraction Bolters>, drawing 2 cards and getting a critical counter on that turn.

From that point onwards, opponent’s life was low enough that he had to block with cards from hand which enables my “Reprise” every single time and eventually I took the win with blue <Overpower> and red <Ironsong Response> for a pump by 7.

First CF <Spider’s Bite> in the bag~~

As usual at Daimonji, Mark offered a round 4 pairing for us to enjoy the game more, so here we moved on to playing the 4th game of the night.

Round 4 Iyslander, Stormbind

Equipment used: <Nullrune Hood>, <Fyendal’s Spring Tunic>, <Braveforge Bracers> and <Refraction Bolters>

Opponent’s expertise in <Iyslander, Stormbind> was acknowledged rather widely in Singapore so I was ready for a hard game.

But the game ended rather abruptly, opponent wasn’t respecting my attack reactions that much and allowed me to chip in damage and getting counters on my <Dawnblade>, this fact compounded by opponent’s poor draw took all the interest in continue playing from my opponent and he conceded.

A 3-0 (4-0) armoury in a while and it feels really good after a short hiatus from <Dorinthea Ironsong> to be able to win with my favourite hero and securing my CF <Spider’s Bite>, now that I have a pair of CF weapons for <Arakni, Huntsman> as well as a CF <Arakni, Huntsman>, you might see armoury reports on the assassin hero, :P

The deck still feels really good in that in all situations, I feel like I have a game plan except against life-gain-fatigue-Oldhim, screw that shit :P

Onwards, Dorinthea!!!
